We have big news!

As Scottfield Stables continues to grow and expand, we have reached both within our own ranks and also outside the farm to make two moves that we are confident will enhance the quality of our program and the variety of services we can offer our customers.

Erin Sopp has been working at Scottfield Stables for about year and a half as a caretaker and has knocked it out of the park every day since she started. Her care for the horses is second to none, and her ability to organize and delegate makes her a natural choice to be promoted to our Barn Manager. As I said to her when I asked her to take the position, she’s already been doing it all anyway… it’s time she gets the official title! Erin’s attitude and passion for the horse makes her an asset beyond measure and we are fortunate to have her here. Congratulations, Erin!

Over the last three years, with the addition of Scottfield Stud as well as the noticeable increase in breeding interest in both the Morgan and Saddlebred breeds, we’ve seen a large increase in demand for the training of young horses and the need to develop and market them. I wanted to be able to offer In Hand services to our customers, and needed to find the right person to take on that role; ideally, I wanted a “colt guy” who could help us with the In Hand youngsters and getting babies broke to line and jog. And I think we’ve nailed it in hiring Christopher Bernard! No stranger to success, Chris has lead and shown horses to world titles for himself and for just about any and every trainer or owner who has needed a hand for the last decade. He’s come up through some of the best programs in the business, and you won’t find a person to say a bad word about him. Chris is a good horseman and a good guy, and we are thrilled to have him on our team!

So with that, I am proud to formally introduce our 2024 Scottfield Stables Team!
