Sales /archives/2005/05/sales.html Sales List

Cedar Creek Uproar (K Lyn's Shylo x Cedar Creek Pirouette)
Proven Park Harness & Park Saddle Gelding

This is a game, talented, FUN Ladies Park Horse!! He is pretty and feminine, but has a big engine, and he's a leggy 15.1 hands... "Rupert" thinks he's ten feet tall while he's working, and while he is a lot of horse, he is safe. AND, he is a child-safe, perfect gentleman on the ground. They don't come any easier to work around, and he has loads of easy motion and an outstanding work ethic. If you are looking for a very highly competitive Park horse who has personality and a terrific attitude, look no further. $30,000.

LSF Clarissa Starling (UVM Tennyson x Lakeland Paradise)
Another beautiful breeding product of the Ladyslipper Program, this elegant 3 year old mare is started under saddle, and a show horse through and through. English Pleasure prospect.

Hartland Infinity (Up Hyre Te-n-Te  x  Fletcher Eternal Lee)
Driving/ Hunter or Dressage prospect/ Breeding Stallion

This colt's pedigree speaks for itself, and he is in person every inch of what he is on paper. Quinn's Trophy/Nocturne sire, Up Hyre Te-N-Te (Dee Cee Mr. Trophy X Saddleback Swingtime) has produced regional and national winners such as Luminaria and Up Hyre Jewel of the Nile, dam of Tolstoy and Foolish Games. Quinn's dam is by the highly-regarded Beamington son Forevermore and out of the World Champion mare Fletcher Music Lee. This 4 year old, dark bay has logged many miles driving cross country, and is working great under saddle. We believe Quinn will make a fantastic Junior Exhibitor mount.Video available.

Disco La Danza (Twin Pond Disco Kid x Bay Path Miss Delite)
Sired by a many times World Champion Reining morgan and out of a proven producer of show ring champions, "Raymo" is athletic everywhere with an attitude that makes him a pleasure to work. He will show in 2007 in the Junior Pleasure Driving division, but we see him being successful in any number of divisions. Big bodied, deep through the heartgirth and just plain handsome. Don't miss out on this wonderful individual.

HVK Constitution Bell
Looking for a great Junior Exhibitor Hunter and equitation prospect? "Indy" is bright bay, 5 year old gelding who is cute as a button and super expressive. He has not been shown to date, and as such is very affordable. If you are looking to be competitive in a division where getting noticed is half the battle, HVK Constitution Bell is the Hunter for you!

LKR Perfect Timing (JMF Time to Spare x JMF Paragon)
This 2 year old stallion has it all - looks, athletics and brains. "T.J." is exquisitely beautiful, with big poppy eyes, a long neck that has plenty of hook, and he uses himself with every step he takes. His sire has proven himself in both the Open Hunter and Open Western Pleasure divisions, and this colt looks to be following in his father's footsteps. Gorgeous colt.

MSV Star Struck (Forevermore x Irish Flora Dora)
Twice a World Champion, once in the Walk/Jog division and once in the Classic Pleasure Driving division, this 12 year old bay gelding is also proving himself to be a serious competitor in the Open Hunter division. At the 2007 UPHA Spring Premiere, Star won his Open Hunter Qualifier in a field of 10, was 4th in the Open Western Pleasure qualifier and championship, and was crowned Reserve Grand Champion Open Hunter. Extremely thoroughly trained, this horse knows everything there is to know, and is therefore suitable for a multitude of riders and/or drivers. Truly versatile and a beautiful mover to boot. A solid investment, a great competitor, MSV Star Struck will take you to the top!

Don't see what you are looking for? No problem! Give us a call, and we will find you the Morgan you are looking for!

About /archives/2005/05/about.html

Alicia Fraser- Trainer/Instructor/Owner
Born into a family of trainers, Alicia has been riding her entire life. As most young horsewomen, riding quickly lead to an interest in showing, and her show career on the "A" circuit began at the age of 6 in the Walk and Trot Equitation division. Alicia began showing on Arabian horses, but at the age of 11, decided to switch breeds and began riding for Peter Axtell Training Stables on American Saddlebreds. As the oldest of 5, owning a top quality show horse was not in the financial cards for Alicia's family, although you could always find "projects" of various breed in their backyard. Fortunately, Peter gave Alicia many opportunities to show a number of wonderful Saddlebreds in divisions from Equitation, to Country Pleasure to Three Gaited Performance horses. By the time she was cantering, Alicia knew she wanted to be a trainer. Upon graduating high school, Alicia moved from home to be closer to her trainer and work towards a degree in Business Management. At the age 0f 18, Alicia became Assistant Trainer for China Pointe, still under the direction of Peter Axtell. It was a job she loved! However, in 2003, an opportunity came along that was simply too good to pass up. It was June of that year that Alicia ventured out on her own to open Scottfield Stables. It was by luck that she fell upon the Morgan breed as the farm she had rented had been a Morgan Farm prior to her arrival. Alicia had worked with a handful of Morgans at China Pointe, primarily a few youngsters she started under saddle including 2003 NYSMHS High Point Winner CEM May Lace, owned and shown by Barbara McMurray and the outstanding young stallion, Sacred Pathss Fortune, owned and bred by Diane Seitz of Sacred Path Morgans. Alicia found that the Morgan breed displayed a perfect temperament for Junior Exhibitors and Amateur riders, the very riders Alicia hoped to specialize in training. Within no time, Alicia was devoted to this breed. After two successful show seasons, and some remarkable growth in business, Alicia and husband, Brian, decided to venture out and purchase their own farm in the Spring of 2005. Scottfield Stables has now found its permanent home at the beautiful Stony Ridge Farm in their hometown of Montrose, Pennsylvania. With 26 Morgans in full training and more than 30 students of all ages, the program at Scottfield Stables continues to grow in leaps and bounds.

Brian Natzle - Owner/Manager
Mr. Natzle came into horses by no choice of his own. When Brian began dating Alicia their Freshmen year of high school, he was happily working as a bus boy at a local restaurant, playing baseball, fishing, and hunting with no real idea just how involved his future bride was in the horse industry. By the time the two became engaged in 2003, Brian was knee deep in horses and getting in further by the minute. As time progressed, so did Brian's skills in handling horses, and it soon became apparent to all that watched him that he had a natural, quiet way with these animals. Now Brian works full-time on the farm, handling all of the feeding and management duties as well as assisting in the hooking and breaking of young stock, and being your all-around "step-n-fetch-it." The Scottfield Team relies heavily on Brian, and a more reliable, hard worker you'll never find!!

Becky Shultz- Assistant Trainer/Instructor
Becky has been involved with the horse industry her entire life, a career peppered with different farms, trainers, breeds, and disciplines. She has been the Assistant Trainer for three notable Arabian farms, and through her twenties, Becky showed several horses on the "A" circuit, including her Arabian mare, Soysky's Two Bits, who among other things was Top Five Amateur Western Pleasure Horse at Region 16 Championship Shows. Becky heads up the beginner lesson program at Scottfield for both children and adults. She is wonderfully patient and can make even the most difficult skill seem attainable! Becky is very gifted in the long-lining of young and finished horses alike, an asset we capitalize on by employing Becky as our Assistant Trainer. Becky is also very involved with her five children (the oldest of whom is Alicia Fraser!) and keeps busy with both the local 4-H clubs and Camp Susquehannock, an International Christian Camp whose Horse Riding program is managed and run solely by Becky. In what little spare time she has, Becky enjoys driving her newest horse, Maestro of the Dawn, in local driving competitions. Becky's warm, fun loving personality puts any rider at ease, while her great sense of humor keep us all laughing!

Priscilla Jennings (Perce)-Manager/Assistant Trainer
As per her instructions, Perce's description will be kept to a minimum. One of the quieter members of the Scottfield Team, Perce has worked on Stony Ridge Farm for over 20 years as their Farm and Breeding Manager. Perce is especially skilled in the handling of Stallions and Foals. Many a nervous and ill-tempered horse have been turned around by her quiet, steady style. Perce's hard-work, know-how and dedication to the farm would be impossible to replace.

Not to be without mention are the school horses that are the foundation of the Scottfield Riding Program.

Joker - Beginner Lesson Horse
Joker is a warmblood cross gelding whose 20 years of life experience make him an unshakable school horse. As a dressage horse, Joker was shown competitively up to second level. Now he enjoys his job as a lesson horse whose specialties include lunge-line lessons and teaching the rider correct use of legs aids. He still has a fabulous half-pass, and he can teach anyone a flying change!

Cinnamon Fersal-Beginner Lesson Horse
This 3/4 Arabian, 1/4 Saddlebred is our old "reliable" for those children learning to master the initial skills of steering and stopping. He has a fun personality and has a wonderful canter for the first-timer!

Lovely Rita- Advanced School Horse
Rita is a beautiful 12 year old National Show Horse who in her heyday carried owner, (then 14 year-old Alicia Fraser), to a Reserve State Championship in Saddleseat Equitation as a Four Year Old. She now enjoys demanding perfection from her students and is wonderful at teaching the rider to balance a bridle while simultaneously teaching an independent seat.

Dar vale Fitzgerald- Advanced School Horse/Academy Mount
"Fitzie" is a big bodied 24 Year Old Morgan who comes out of his stall every day ready to go to a horse show. Fitzie's forward energy and upright neck coupled with his deadly precision on a pattern puts a fabulous finish on our senior equitation riders. And best yet, he is still very competitive in the show ring when duty calls!!

FAQ's /archives/2005/05/faqs.html FAQ's

1. Do I need to own a horse to take lessons?
No, you do not need to own your own horse to take lessons. We have lesson horses for that very purpose! You or your child could ride our lesson horses for years. One never has to own their own horse to enjoy the sport of horseback riding.

2. Do you have private or group lessons?
Scottfield Stables offers both private and group half hour lessons. We suggest that you ride at least once a week to build skills and confidence with the horse. We encourage you to ride as often as
you can. Our lessons are tailored to all levels of riding.

3. What are the advantages of a group lesson?
will enable you to learn how to ride with and around other people and horses. This will be valuable should you decide to pursue a show ring career.

4. What is a good age to start my child with lessons?
We give lessons to riders from age about 6 to 60+. We would be happy to discuss any situation you have regardless of age or handicap.

5. How long and how much are lessons?
Private lessons are $30.oo each, while the group lessons (two - four students in a group) are $20.00. All lessons are 30 minutes long.

6. Will my child learn how to take care of the horse?
Yes. We place a lot of emphasis on being able to groom and tack a horse properly and safely. These initial steps will be valuable in building confidence when dealing with a horse.

7. Do you have a youth group or club?
Scottfield Stables does not have our own riding club, but we are in a club rich area and can help you find the club that is right for you.

8. I love horses but do not feel riding will be my thing. How else can I get involved with the horses?
We give driving lessons as well as riding lessons. Driving is very challenging and fun, and driving can be a very good place to begin a show career or build skills that will help you if you ever do decide to try riding.

9. What should I wear to my first lesson?
We have plenty of hard hats for you to pick from until you decide you are commited enough to invest in one of your own. Riding pants and boots with a heel are a must after your first couple of lessons. Tennis shoes are not allowed. We will help you pick out a pair of appropriate boots, and often times, we will have some used boots and riding pants for sale.

10. Where do I find this equipment?
We have several catalogs from tack stores that have riding pants, boots, gloves, and helmets.

11. Will I be able to show at horse shows?
Yes, several of the horse shows we attend have academy classes set up especially for beginner riders that show on our school horses.

12. Do you have horses available for lease that we can show?
Yes, we have horses of various levels available for lease that you can both ride at home and show. We would need to discuss your specific needs to provide you with detailed information.

13. If we want to purchase a horse do you have horses for sale?
Yes, we do have horses for sale. However we encourage you to take multiple lessons a week for a period of time before deciding to purchase a horse. This will enable you to be far enough along in your riding to actually purchase a horse that can meet your needs for more then just the immediate future. If we don't have the appropriate horse in the barn we will assist you in finding an appropriate one outside the barn.
